Inside Housing’s Development of the Week

13 January 2017

Rogallo Place, our purpose-built Extra Care scheme being developed in Medway, Kent, has been named Inside Housing magazine’s Development of the Week.

The £11.3m scheme for older people will provide 63 high quality homes for residents with a wide range of needs.

Extra Care combines many benefits – it gives residents independent living, with round-the-clock support from care professionals as and when required.

The aim is to create a ‘luxury hotel’ feel to the building, enabling the residents to interact with each other in comfortable surroundings.

The scheme, which is due to complete in November 2017, will feature fantastic communal facilities, including a residents’ lounge, buggy store, activity room, restaurant and hairdressing salon that’ll also be open to the local community.

AmicusHorizon is well experienced at developing Extra Care housing. Regis Gate in Sittingbourne was the first of our modern Extra Care housing schemes, providing high quality, self-contained apartments for older people.

The Orangery in Sidley has brought 52 Extra Care apartments to over 55s in East Sussex and was shortlisted in the National Housing Awards 2016 for innovation.

While the first brick was laid in December at ‘Atlas Place’, our £10.4m Extra Care scheme in St Mary’s Island, Chatham. Featuring 62 spacious homes, the scheme is due for completion in March 2018.
