Who is eligible and what are the selection criteria?
A:The scheme is designed to particularly help first time buyers who are either: existing tenants of a Local Authority or an RSL (Registered Social Landlord - Housing Association) registered on a housing waiting list with your Local Authority or RSL as being in priority need eligible to be registered on a waiting list with your Local Authority or RSL as being in priority need To be eligible for consideration you must not be able to afford to purchase a suitable property for your needs on the open market. You must have sufficient income to raise at least 25% of the open market value of a property and be able to pay the rent on the remaining share which is retained by the RSL. Other people, that are not first time buyers, may be considered if they need to move due to relationship breakdown or job relocations. Your local homebuy agent will assess if you are eligible to buy.

What is a Homebuy Agent?
A:HomeBuy Agents are appointed housing associations who are the first point of contact for affordable housing in London and the South East. They need to assess your general eligibility for shared ownership before you can purchase any shared ownership properties. You will need to register with them and they will give you a registration number.

What is the process of registering for part rent - part buy properties?
A:You simply need to submit an application form to your local HomeBuy Agent via their website, or in hard copy if you prefer. The form is available on their websites (see 'Who is my HomeBuy Agent...?' above).

Can I view the properties before I register?
A:Yes, you can begin your property search now using the 'Are YOU Looking For a New Home?' link in the main menu above. However please note that you will need to be registered with your HomeBuy Agent before we can make you a formal offer of a part buy - part rent property.

Q:
Can I only apply for properties in the borough I live in?
A:Each new-build development has its own funding stream which determines who is eligible to buy there. In most cases you will have to either already be living or working in the borough you are applying in. However, if the development has been on the market for a certain length of time, or if you are a key worker you may be eligible to to apply. Please contact the sales team if you are interested in a particular property which is outside your living/working borough, and we can advise you.

Is there anything else that I need to do to be eligible for a property I like?
A:When you have found a property you want to buy you will also need to be interviewed by us to check that you satisfy the criteria for the scheme and that you can afford to go ahead.

A:Applicants will be offered a home with up to one bedroom above and over their current needs.
