New family and employment programme unveiled - 12 January 2012

On 3 January 2012, the Families Programme kicked off for workless residents in Bromley. We've joined forces with Bromley Council to support local families build better futures.

Working together

The three year programme offers participants help to find work, manage relationships, childcare and parenting skills. And to reflect the tough economic climate, participants can also access money management advice.

Our Community Development Director, William Miller is delighted with the potential this new programme offers: "Managing a tight budget and being unemployed can put a massive strain on family relationships. The programme aims to support 350 family members, and help over 100 into work. We're very excited about working with local people and making a real difference to the community with the practical support the programme offers."

Working with Bromley Council we'll deliver the new programme thanks to a successful bid to Reed in Partnership, one of the largest employment and skills providers in the UK.

Jenny Jarvis, Director of Supply Chain Management at Reed in Partnership said: "Over 23% of working-age Bromley residents don't have a job. Many of these people want to improve their lifestyles and find employment opportunities. We're pleased to entrust AmicusHorizon and Bromley Council to help them achieve this through the Families Programme."

Between April and October 2011, we engaged 4,937 new participants in its community programmes. Of these, 3,518 participants were aged 19 or under. Community projects help to build personal and life skills, confidence, motivation and employability. Empowering people to develop these skills can also help reduce antisocial behaviour.
