Home ownership

All of AmicusHorizon's shared ownership homes are sold on a leasehold basis. The lease is a legal contract between you and us. As a shared owner, you own a part of your home; however, we treat you as a full owner. That means you pay all the costs of living in and maintaining your home.

Our leasehold properties are managed by the Home Ownership team. Our staff are happy to assist you with any queries about the day-to-day management of your home, rents and service charges, repairs and maintenance, improvements and communal repairs or the terms of your lease agreement.

Staircasing (buying more shares) or selling your property

If you are interested in purchasing more shares in or selling your property please contact the Shared Horizon's team on 0800 121 60 60* or 01795 434 606** or CLICK HERE. More information can be found on the Shared Horizons Website

* Calls free from a BT landline, charges from mobiles and other networks may vary. ** If you are calling from a mobile, it may be cheaper for you to dial 01795 434 606.

As a shared owner, you pay a rent for the share of the property that you don't own. The rent increases either every year, or every two years (if you live in a 'fair rent' property). You may also be responsible for service charges covering things like cleaning or heating.

For most shared ownership homes, AmicusHorizon is what is known as the 'superior landlord'. That means we own the freehold of your property, and you lease directly from us.

At AmicusHorizon, we run a regular programme of Neighbourhood inspections. This helps us to monitor the condition of local neighbourhoods, get feedback from local residents and take action where needed to improve the environment.
